Irene Borum
Irene is the founding member of Abacus CPA, LLC. Abacus is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with satellite offices in Boston, MA and Detroit, MI.
Irene is a Certified Public Accountant and graduate of University of Massachusetts where she holds an MBA in Finance, a Master’s in Accounting and a dual bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Management.
Irene has worked in the public and private industries in the field of Accounting and Finance for over twenty-five years. Irene’s experience includes holding the position as Chief Financial Officer of The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, Managerial roles in the finance departments of Boston Medical Center, Turner Broadcasting, American Cancer Society and Crawford & Company.
Irene founded Abacus after many years in corporate America in the effort to meet the needs of small to medium size businesses. Abacus’ focus is providing tax and consulting services for business owners, non-profits, government contractors and entrepreneurs.

Irene has a son who resides in Boston and enjoys reading, spin class and traveling. She currently lives in Smyrna, GA.
Betsey Denis

Betsey has held various managerial roles in Trident trust, AJC, OneSource and Ikon. She is recognized as a strong leader and works hard for her clients.
Betsey is married and a mother of two and enjoys spending time with her family.
Merna Diby
Tax Associate
Merna is a graduate of Mercer University, where she holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting from Cameron University.
She has over 15 years in finance and accounting and has held the positions of a Project Manager as well as Accounting Manager at a top Fortune 500 company for the past 9 years. She has extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, auditing and cash flow management. She enjoys working with clients to optimize their tax strategies and to develop a comprehensive financial plan tailored to their individual needs.
Maya Copeland
Tax Associate
Maya Copeland is a Tax Associate and is currently working as an Executive Assistant for Abacus. She has over five years of experience working with the Abacus Team and has recently moved across the country for the opportunity to work full-time with the company here in Atlanta.
In her spare time, she enjoys free-lancing Chef work, reading and spending time with her family and children. She is excited to be able to further her education and career for the future.

Bernice Rembert
Finance/Accounting Manager
Bernice has over 20 years of experience with diverse knowledge from business and private sectors including telecommunications, non-profit, insurance, and real estate.
Bernice has held various managerial roles at Marsh, one of the largest insurance brokers in the world, AT&T wireless, Mckesson IT and Epic. Bernice has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree with a concentration in Accounting.
Bernice is married and enjoys spending time with family, working out and traveling.
